Debuchy acknowledged on Tuesday morning that he is longing to play in the Champions League again (story here) and dropped the first serious hint that he would seek a move away from Newcastle after returning from World Cup duty this summer. To be brutally honest that particular writing has been on the wall from the moment his best friend Yohan Cabaye - thought to be the main reason he came to St James' Park in the first place - left to join Paris Saint Germain, who've been mentioned as a possible destination for the France right-back. And the probability of that fabricated scenario becoming a reality has increased by tenfold off the back of Debuchy's less-than vague insinuation that he yearns for a return to European competition and we don't blame him showing even a shred of ambition to rub shoulders with the continents elite stars. Plus he won't be the first of our assets to be sold by Mike Ashley and will follow in the footsteps of Cabaye, Demba Ba, Andy Carroll and fellow full-back Jose Enrique.
