8 Reasons Why England Will Win Euro 2020
3. The Team Is Very Young
Ironically, the oldest player in the team is Ashley Young at 33, shortly followed by Jordan Henderson, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker, who all sit at the ripe old footballing age of 28. The majority of the remaining squad is significantly younger and should have at least two to three more international tournaments together. More international experience should not only build character and an identity, but most importantly chemistry.
With the bulk of the squad in the early 20's, the players still have a lot or time to develop and evolve their skillset. The distance and experience gained in the Russian World Cup is something to highlight on the CV for the 3 Lions, and can be used as the building blocks of future generations in a bright English future.
Miraculously most of these England players have attended only one penalty shootout, and experienced the joy and elation of watching Eric Dier slot home the all-important fifth penalty against Colombia. The penalty hoodoo holding above the nations head appears to have been broken.
