9 Sports That Should Be Olympic Events

3. Surfing

Several watersports are already included in the Olympic line-up, including canoeing, rowing and sailing, but none of these hold any similarity to surfing. Usually viewed to be an alternative sport, one that sits more comfortably alongside skateboarding than sprinting, surfing requires skill and balance, not to mention a bit of bravery. With BMX already an Olympic sport, there€™s no reason why Surfing shouldn€™t be given a spot. If nothing else, it would be a great way to get people interested in the sport by having the world€™s top surfers compete alongside one another at the greatest sporting event in the world.

2. Dancing

If sports such as dressage, synchronised swimming and gymnastic floor routines all feature in the Olympics, then why not include dancing as well? Olympic dancing could feature both individual and team events, requiring competitors to perform a variety of styles, ranging from ballet to salsa to street. Artistic events are always some of the most impressive spectacles at the games and dancing would be no exception. With shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and dance-themed movies growing in popularity, the introduction of dance categories to the Olympics would definitely tap into this developing interest, and give people a chance to see the very best dancers in the world perform against each other.
