2. Ozil Was The Catalyst That Made Arsenal Genuine Title Contenders
When Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil this past summer; it changed the way a lot of people looked at Arsenal. I think a lot of people thought that they werent a team that was prepared to spend big on players and certainly didnt see them as genuine challenges for the Premier League title. It seem as though finishing fourth in the league and qualifying for the Champions League was the extent of their ambition. In fact, before the German arrived most of us would have expected the Gunners to finish fourth in the league again this season. Of course, this could still happen but at least the club have and are having a genuine go at winning the title. If Arsenal are able to get over the line this season, then Ozil would have played a massive part in that. By this, Im not just talking about the players influence on the pitch but also what the signing represents. Its also worth noting that other players appear to have picked up their game in the presence of Ozil; the obvious examples here being Aaron Ramsey and Oliver Giroud. The only negative is perhaps the club didnt capitalize on the situation enough, because they didnt add further to their squad in January.
