Arsenal Transfer News: £40 Million Luis Suarez Bid Prepared

Daily Mail. The unsettled Uruguayan star is the Gunner's number one transfer target and the North Londoners have already had one £30 million bid knocked back for the 26-year-old. Arsenal had reportedly reopened talks with Anfield bosses over an improved, £35 million bid for the forward earlier this week but it is thought that still wasn't enough to persuade Liverpool into doing business. A £40 million offer will however test their resolve in keeping hold of their prized asset. That amount, according to Suarez's agent Pere Guardiola, triggers the player's release clause and Liverpool would in turn have to listen. A bid of that kind would represent a hugely decisive move from the Gunner's hierarchy as they strive to sign one of their three main targets. Along with Suarez, Wenger also wants Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney. There is a growing sense within the Emirates that the club have to make significant moves in the transfer market within the next few days or risk missing out on all three targets. Having made the public declaration that Wenger has the funds to compete for Europe's biggest players, missing out on stellar signings such as these would be an embarrassing PR disaster for the club, who have yet to sign anyone this summer.
