Arsenal Transfer News: Egyptian Left-Back Milo To Emirates?

Milo plays for the Egyptian Olympic football team, the equivalent to England’s U21 team.

News has emerged recently that Arsenal are showing interest in an Egyptian left-back called Islam Ramadan (or €˜Milo€™). The 21 year old Harras El Hodoud player is definitely an unknown quantity in England, but I happen to follow Egyptian football and will try to give an insight into what kind of player Arsenal would be getting. Milo plays for the Egyptian Olympic football team, the equivalent to England€™s U21 team, and is part of a generation of exciting young Egyptian players who are being scouted by clubs all over Europe. International teammates Mohamed Salah and Ahmed Hegazi were recently signed by Basel and Fiorentina respectively. Milo himself has meanwhile been drawing much acclaim for his performances, most recently at the Toulon Hopeful€™s Tournament in which international U21 teams compete on an annual basis. His style of play is that of an attacking fullback; he is fast and strong, with a similar build and mentality to our very own Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. This strength would suggest that he€™s very likely to succeed in the Premier League, as he can pose a physical challenge to teams such as Stoke. He can beat a man and deliver crosses, as well as being solid in the defensive aspect of his game which makes him a thoroughly reliable fullback. At 21 years of age, he has many years to grow into a world class talent and become an integral part of Arsenal€™s plans. Arsenal€™s interest has been confirmed by none other than the player himself, his full statement reads:
€œArsenal officials have been following me since my participation in the Toulon tournament in 2009,€ Milo said. €œAnd the English team got more interested in me after Toulon 2012 and I€™m now waiting for their official letter. €œI will meet with the Haras Al Hodood officials before I leave with the Olympic squad on Thursday to understand their stance from this offer. €œI believe the Arsenal scouts will watch me closely at the London Olympics. My participation at London 2012 is what will determine my next step, and I hope to come to a European club.€
This prospective transfer is a testament to Arsenal€™s widespread scouting network, tracking a player for 3 years before any move is made shows how thorough Arsene Wenger can be with his dealings. Although unknown, Milo is undoubtedly a great prospect and Arsenal fans should definitely greet interest in him positively. Other clubs interested in him are Lyon and Benfica, but I for one seriously hope Arsenal pull out all the stops to land this exciting talent.
