Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners To Increase Offer For Luis Suarez?

London Evening Standard. The Gunners have already seen an initial offer of £30 million for the unsettled Uruguayan star rejected by the Anfield club, but are prepared to improve on that, and still feel the striker can be prised away from Merseyside this summer. The North London club's interest in Suarez comes as their chances of signing Higuain are fading by the day. New Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is to hold talks with the 25-year-old over his role at the club next week, and sources in Spain claim the Argentinian may have a future at the Bernabeu after all, and that it will take a huge offer for the Spanish club to change their minds. Arsenal were confident of landing the striker for £23 million at one point, but Madrid president Florentino Perez has claimed no bid has been received for the former River Plate man. It has also been claimed Real value Higuain at much more than the reported £23 million, and the forward is expected to report for pre-season training on Monday. Madrid were also favourites to land Suarez, but are not prepared to pay the £40 million they think it will take to bring the South American to the Spanish capital. That could be significant for Arsenal, especially if the Spanish club keep hold of Higuain, as it will mean they will have less competition for Suarez' signature.
