Several Arsenal transfer stories are flying around the internet today, and What Culture brings you a comprehensive roundup of the very latest: The Telegraph reports today that a deal for Olivier Giroud has finally been agreed, with the player likely to be confirmed as an Arsenal player within 24 hours. The story is based around quotes made by Montpellier club president Louis Niccolin, in which he says €œI wish him success, as he is a good guy€ in a supposed farewell bid to the striker. This news comes a few days after Arsene Wenger stated that the deal for Giroud is 90% done and categorically stated that he will be an Arsenal player next season. With France now out of the Euros, it would seem that the deal will be completed very soon; and Arsenal fans can start looking forward to seeing Giroud in action for the gunners. I would think that the deal is now subject to a medical and we can all look forward to the official unveiling of Giroud in an Arsenal shirt. You can see his highlights for the 2011/12 season here. As the video shows, Giroud is partial to a simple finish however can also come up with some outrageous goals; and with 25 goals for Montpellier last season, one hopes that he can improve even further at Arsenal with the quality of assists at the club. With the deal for Giroud now seemingly tied up; Wenger will hopefully now look to secure the signature of Yann M€™Vila, who impressed for France at the Euros and will now be free to negotiate. The other news surrounding Rennes and Arsenal is that Rennes have received an offer of £4.1million for centre-back Abdou Kader Mangane from an unknown club. The Mail link this to Arsenal because Wenger has previously shown interest in the player, leading them to believe that the €˜unknown club€™ is Arsenal. Arsene Wenger is looking for defensive cover, something Mangane, 29, could provide. The French club would not confirm the offer but Mangane has been quoted as saying that he wants to move to England. The final big story doing the rounds is that Fulham are weighing up a £5.5 million bid for Aaron Ramsey. I highly doubt that this will be successful because Wenger rates Ramsey very highly and sees a bright future for him at the club, so would never agree to him leaving (especially for that kind of fee). A prospective loan deal might prove more attractive to Arsenal and Ramsey, who will surely see limited playing time next season with the return of Wilshere and Diaby, as well as the prospective signing of M€™Vila. A loan deal to a mid-table team might prove very useful to his development and see his chances increase at Arsenal. That€™s all for today, you€™ll be hearing from me again soon with some more (hopefully good) Arsenal news!
