Arsenal Transfer News: Yann M'Vila To Join This Week?

Arsenal have emerged as favourites to finally sign Rennes star Yann M'Vila.

Caught Offside) quotes Derossi as stating;

€œWe have three offers (for M€™Vila) for the moment.€
When he was further challenged by reporters about Arsenal's long term interest in the French international midfielder, Derossi responded with;
€œArsenal? Maybe, you€™ll have to call Arsene. But when Song leaves, we must say that Arsenal will reinforce that post.€
He then seemingly admitted M'Vila will be sold;
€œWe retain our price of ‚20m (£15.7m). And I think it will be done by the end of this week or the beginning of next.€
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had eyed M'Vila as an early summer transfer target but reportedly failed to agree a fee with Rennes over the transfer. Now that Alex Song has left Arsenal in a big £15 million move to Barcelona, the veteran Arsenal manager must decide whether to continue with what he has in midfield (and it's unlikely Abou Diaby or Emmanuel Frimpong will be seen as good enough to carry the club next season) or spend the Song money on a replacement before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. M'Vila would certainly fit the bill as the ideal man to add some steel to the Arsenal midfield and although he isn't as known for his creative play and may not contribute as many assists as Song, he can certainly cover the tough-tackling, holding midfield role and allow Arsenal's more creative talents to push forward. If we are to believe Derossi's statements, Wenger will land 22-year-old M'Vila for the Emirates but Inside Futbol are claiming that Zenit St. Petersburg and Tottenham Hotspur may be two other clubs who are keen on bringing the French international to their respective clubs.
