At 23 Javi Martinez is a World And European champion with Spain and the linchpin of Athletic Bilbao's defence. His best position is playing just in front of the defence but is now almost exclusively utilised as a centre back under Marcelo Bielsa. He would add steel and determination to a side sorely lacking in both. His added height would be a bonus in both boxes for Arsenal and he can play a bit too. Arsene Wenger would need to push the boat out to get his signature as Bilbao are in a good position financially, there is an incredible feel good factor around the club at the moment, none of their star players are in a rush to leave and they should be moving into their brand new stadium within the next two years.
