Arsenal Transfers: 10 Players Wenger Must Sign To Secure Title
2. Jackson Martinez (Athletico Madrid)
At Porto, Jackson Martinez must have been considered one of the hottest strikers in Europe. Scoring frequently, he would likely have been considered a great signing for Diego Simeone at Athletico Madrid when the club captured him for 35 million Euros just last Summer. Since then, the striker hasn't exactly flourished, only managing 11 appearances and a return of 2 goals. Simeone is said to be interested in persevering with the forward, but such a poor return of goals in his debut season at Athletico can't have went unnoticed. Alarm bells should be ringing around Europe, because somebody could get a real steal if they play their cards correctly. For Arsenal, this means that Athletico would likely be willing to slash the price of Martinez in order to offload him. If Arsene Wenger could get the best out of the Colombian, he'd have quite the player. Martinez is a good finisher, he proved that by scoring 67 times for Porto in just 89 matches. His time in Spain has been pretty meagre thus far, but there's a chance he could come good. Arsenal could be willing to take a slight risk on the player, and the striker would surely find the net if fit and given game time.
