Arsenal Transfers: 10 Strikers Arsene Wenger Must Sign Before Window Shuts

Javier Hernandez seems to be enjoying a new lease of life in Germany.

When he arrived in England, nobody had heard much of ‘Chicarito’. Despite a strong showing for Mexico at the 2010 World Cup, not much was expected of the diminutive forward. He would go on to become Old Trafford’s South American Ole Gunnar Solksjaer however, bagging 50 goals in his first three seasons despite often playing second or third fiddle to the likes of Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov.

The next seasons yielded reduced opportunities under David Moyes, and just four goals, before he was farmed out to Real Madrid. As one can guess, he found it equally difficult to dislodge Karim Benzema. Last season, he was cut free from Manchester and flourished however.

Given a starting role at Bayer Leverkusen, the Mexican gobbled up goals as if he had been starved for years. 26 goals from 40 appearances was a fabulous return, while Louis van Gaal’s side struggled to score against the likes of Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

Considering Danny Welbeck is already in the Arsenal camp, it would feel a little strange if another ex-Man United goal-getter rocked up at the Emirates, but Arsenal need a striker and Hernandez has always known where the net is.
