Arsenal Transfers: 10 Worst Arsene Wenger Signings Ever

9. Andrey Arshavin

Andrey Arshavin's Arsenal stint started with an almighty bang when he joined the Gunners halfway through the 2008/09 season from Zenit St. Petersburg for £15 million. The meerkat-looking Russian took the Premier League by storm, pulling strings behind the main striker and being a general nuisance with his surprising pace and crafty feet that left defenders for dead.

His greatest Arsenal moment came against Liverpool at Anfield, where he single-handedly destroyed their defence, scoring four goals in the process. And for two-and-a-half seasons, Arsenal looked like they got a top quality player on a bargain, but then it all went downhill.

Sure the little Russian maestro provided some memorable moments, but his last few years at the club were pretty much abysmal. Not only did he look as if he didn't want to be at the club anymore, he played like it too.

By the end of his Arsenal career, it didn't look like he had any fans left in the Arsenal camp, and the once highly talented Russian left on a free transfer at the end of the 2012/13 season.
