Arsenal Transfers: 5 Errors Wenger Made On Deadline Day

1. ...And Missing Out On Cheaper Target Radamel Falcao!

Just to recap. Arsenal missed out on Alessio Cerci and Wilfried Bony, but agreed to pay £16 million for Manchester United misfit Danny Welbeck, when he could have had Radamel Falcao for £10 million less. Falcao has joined United on loan for £6 million and given he has scored 200 career goals to Welbeck's 37, that seems just a little ridiculous. Why didn't Arsenal try to sign Falcao? Why on earth did they instead decide to pay over the odds for Welbeck? They had a distinct advantage over the Red Devils in the race for the Colombian in that they can offer Champions League football, yet they failed to use even this carrot to their benefit and instead saw the Colombian slip through their fingers. And Arsenal fans have been unforgiving on Twitter. Mazino Ziregbe (@Mazzino_Z) wrote on the micro social networking site: "If what i am hearing about falcao to united is true then Arsene Wenger is truly a wicked man. He enjoys putting the fans through despair" while Le Grove (@LeGrove) added: "Falcao to United tells you a lot about the ambition of Arsenal." They have a point. Arsenal's failure to snap up Falcao for such a paltry fee really is a sign of a lack of ambition, but then, that's the same story every year, and every year the Gunners finish fourth. Now we don't have to keep asking why. Are you happy with Arsenal's business this summer? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
