Arsenal Transfers: 5 Errors Wenger Made On Deadline Day

2. ...But Settling For United Castoff Danny Welbeck...

Danny Welbeck's move to Arsenal has been met with a mixed response from Gooners. Some are prepared to give the striker a chance, some aren't prepared to take to the now-ex Manchester United man while others think he's simply a poor signing. Welbeck has hardly been lighting up the Premier League of late, and isn't what you'd call a "marquee name". Gunners supporters hoped for better than Welbeck, basically a United castoff who was told he wasn't needed at Old Trafford anymore following Radamel Falcao's loan move from Monaco. There's a general feeling of unease at Emirates Stadium that the Londoners have had to settle for another team's leavings and the England international is not the prolific goalscorer fans demanded this summer. His move to the north London side is somewhat underwhelming. He scored just 20 goals in 90 league appearances during his time with United and there were better options out there, like Cerci, Bony, oh yeah, and let's not forget Radamel Falcao. His price tag was also dubious - £16 million - the same amount Liverpool paid for Mario Balotelli, another player the Gunners missed out on. I know who we'd rather have.
