2. Mathieu Debuchy
Scott Heppell/AP/Press Association ImagesDebuchys statement that he is determined to play Champions League football sent the transfer rumour mills into overdrive. Clubs like Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich and AS Roma were all linked with making a bid for Newcastles talented defender. However, no one has been more heavily linked with the Toon right-back than Arsenal. With the departure of Sagna from North London creating the perfect opening for the Frenchman and the Gunners fourth place finish guaranteeing them European football next season, it seems like a match made in heaven. Further, working under one of the greatest French managers in the history of the game would certainly be of interest to the 28-year-old. The right-back is not only an exceptional athlete but also has a creative passing game which would fit excellently into the Emirates ethos. Debuchy may be contracted to play in Newcastle until 2018 but his statement about European football has led many to believe that the Frenchman may be on his way out. Arsenal are also reported to be interested in French forward Loïc Rémy who played at Newcastle last season one wonders whether Arsenal and their penchant for snapping up shiny players makes them far more deserving of the magpie club nickname.
