Aston Villa: 5 Reasons Paul Lambert Deserves More Time

2. Lambert€™s Appointment Was Always A Long Term Project

I€™d like to think that Villa are one of the more sensible clubs in the league with Randy Lerner being one of the better foreign owners. I remember last season that he was under pressure at times with the club flirting with relegation, but ultimately they were able to survive in the league. Lambert certainly went about his business in a brave fashion by investing in players that were young and hungry; he certainly is bold as many people think that acquiring experienced players is a safer route to take €“ especially if the club is likely to be near the foot of the table. As mentioned, I honestly think that Villa have made progress this season €“ but fans often want things quicker than in realistically possible. We all remember the times when the club was competing at the sharp end of the league, and I can certainly understand why fans want to get back there. However, it€™s important to remember that the EPL has changed an awful lot over the past few years, but in the long term it€™s certainly something that can be achieved. What Lambert is doing at the club is building a team for the future that can also compete in the present. I honestly believe that he is going about things in the right way €“ and Villa will reap the rewards of that in the seasons that follow.
