Before Eden Hazard: 5 Craziest Red Cards In Football

4. John Terry - Chelsea v Barcelona (2012)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkstSvK0AwA If you're playing against Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League, you are going to need to have two things going for you. One, you need to be at the top of your game and two; it helps if you have eleven men on the pitch. Someone should have told John Terry that before the Chelsea captain inexplicably kneed Alexis Sanchez, with the Englishman picking up a straight red card in the process, leaving his side to battle on for over fifty minutes a man down. Chelsea had won the first leg 1-0 at Stamford Bridge but when Busquets and Iniesta scored two first half goals, it looked as though Chelsea's hopes of reaching the Champions League Final had been dashed by the stupidity of Terry. However, Ramires pulled one back before Fernando Torres bagged a last-gasp winner in the 90th minute to seal a 3-2 aggregate win for the Blues. Chelsea would go on to win their first ever European Cup by seeing off Bayern Munich, and John Terry missed out on the biggest game of his career.
