Best Premier League XI Ever

Centre Back: John Terry

With Neville and now Terry, this XI isn’t winning any personality contests any time soon. However, they would definitely have won a bagful of trophies with a prime JT at the back.

Mr Chelsea wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he was a brilliant, no nonsense defender, always there when his teammates’ backs were against the wall. Well... maybe not Wayne Bridge's.

A colossal figure in both Chelsea and England’s back line, he marshalled everyone around him to perfection and popped up with some crucial goals when needed most. The first name on the team sheet for years, he was the most reliable Blue around.

His slip did once cost Chelsea the Champions League, but then he’s not the only slipper on the list. Mistakes from Terry were few and far between, and he was a hugely influential, steady hand in Chelsea’s most successful era.

He wasn’t without his naff moments though. Between wearing his full kit to collect the trophy despite being suspended for the Champions League Final, his pre-planned guard of honour after being subbed off on 26 minutes in his final game, and his Villa contract clause that he stipulated he'd never play against Chelsea, it’s easy to see why he wasn’t all that popular - despite his talent.
