Bobby Robson's 5 Worst Newcastle United Signings

1. Titus Bramble

When a tall, powerful English centre back was signed for £6million from Ipswich Town, Newcastle fans were expecting big things. Little did they know just how disastrous Bramble's spell on Tyneside would be. Nicknamed Titus Shambles shortly after his arrival, the promising youngster continued to make mistake after mistake, costing Newcastle goals galore. A simple back pass would be under hit, a tackle would be mistimed, or his concentration would disappear. It was plain to see that Bramble's mentality wasn't good enough to be a defender at the highest level. So often he would look great for 80 minutes, but a simple task would go horrifically wrong and all the good work he had put in before would be quickly erased from the supporters' memories. It never looked likely that the Magpies would recoup any of their investment, and when the centre back's contract ran out in 2007, his five-year Newcastle United career came to an end - much to the delight of the vast majority of supporters.
