Bundesliga Round Up: Matchday 7

Bundesliga-Banner600x300 The Bundesliga is now in full swing and the action continued this weekend. New signings have settled and are starting to make their mark, while there have been surprises across the league throughout the season. Augsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach were the focus of Friday nights action, where fans saw a thrilling 2-2 draw. Hahn gave the home side the lead but Kruse pulled Monchengladbach level just 6 minutes later. In the second half, Hrgota gave the visitors the lead for the first time in the match but Milik equalised two minutes from time to ensure the points were shared, leaving both sides in mid-table with 10 points. High flying Leverkusen continued their brilliant start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Hannover. First half goals from Rolfes and Sam ensured that Hannover, the side in 4th spot in the league, would not pull level on points. The result put Leverkusen a single point off top spot and 6 points ahead of Hannover. Bayern secured a 1-0 victory at home to Wolfsburg thanks to Muller's second half goal, while Dortmund thrashed Freiburg 5-0 to claim top spot in the league. Two braces from Reus and Lewandowski, along with Blaszczykowski's goal, heaped further misery upon a struggling Freiburg side which sits second bottom. Hertha Berlin narrowed the gap on 4th placed Hannover to a single point after their 3-1 victory against Mainz. Muller gave the visitors the lead but the home side rallied after half-time with Allagui scoring the equaliser 3 minutes after the restart. A quick-fire double gave the hosts the win with just over 15 minutes to go as Allagui grabbed his second and Ben Hatira sealed the victory. Schalke's slow start to the season continued with a 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim. Schalke stormed into a 2-goal lead thanks to goals from Boateng and Matip but Modeste pulled one back. Before half-time, Hoger restored Schalke's two goal cushion but a penalty from Firmino 3 minutes into the second half cut the deficit. Abraham then scored the equaliser in the 61st minute, leaving Schalke with just 8 points after 7 games. Frankfurt and Hamburg also played out a thrilling draw with the game finishing 2-2. Flum gave Frankfurt the lead before Lasogga equalised for Hamburg. Frankfurt took the lead again through Russ but 4 minutes from time Jansen ensured the points would be shared, a valuable point for Hamburg as the draw was only their 5th point so far this season. On Sunday, Werder Bremen and Nuremburg drew 3-3 in yet another thrilling game from matchday 7. An own goal from Dabanli gave Bremen the lead after just 8 minutes. Before half-time, Elia scored to give the hosts a comfortable 2-goal cushion. However, Kiyotake cut the deficit before Drmic finished the comeback. Elia's second of the game restored Bremen's lead but Hlousek scored the equaliser with 20 minutes remaining. In the other game on Sunday, Stuttgart smashed 4 past a struggling Eintracht Braunschweig side who still have just a point to their name. Ibisevic scored the only goal of the first half to give the game a respectable scoreline at the interval but that all changed in the second period. Maxim, Traore and Harnik all scored in the second half period to give Stuttgart a comfortable victory and put them sixth place in the league.
