Chelsea: 10 British Youngsters Who Deserve Their Chance At Stamford Bridge

1. Patrick Bamford (ST)

Outrageously talented, 6'2 Patrick Bamford has already earnt himself the nickname 'Bamfordinho' for his goalscoring exploits with MK Dons this season. With eleven goals in sixteen appearances under his belt, he's widely expected to take the step up to Championship level when his loan contract expires in January. Signed for £1.5m from Nottm Forest in the 2012 winter transfer window, Bamford had two professional appearances under his belt before moving to Chelsea. He trained with the first team squad from the start, all the while tearing up opponents at Reserve team level. While his first spell at MK Dons showed a player still getting to grips with competitive football, scoring four goals and several assists in fourteen appearances, he's been on fire since returning to the club in the summer and made his bow for England U21s in the 9-0 annihilation of San Marino in November. At 20 years old, Bamford is just entering the stage of his career where he needs to start making good on his potential if he's to stand a chance of making it with the Blues. Should he continue his excellent scoring form after moving up to the Championship, the football world will surely be his proverbial oyster. Surprisingly graceful for a tall man, it's his technical rather than physical abilities where he really shines, although is certainly no slouch in the latter department. Effortlessly composed in front of goal and with enough creative awareness to know when to create chances for others rather than take a shot himself, he's showing all the signs of growing into a fine striker at a time when Chelsea and England are in desperate need.
