Chelsea Transfer News: Kevin De Bruyne To Wolfsburg?

Chelsea€™s Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is closing in on a permanent move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, according to the German club. The youthful midfielder only joined the club two years ago from Genk, and the Belgian international is said to be keen to leave Stamford Bridge this month in order to increase his World Cup chances. The 22-year-old has struggled to break into the Chelsea side this season under new boss José Mourinho. He's played nine games, but has only three appearances in the Premier League this term. Wolfsburg are currently lying fifth in the German Bundesliga, a mere two points behind Robert Lewandowski's Borussia Dortmund. The German clubs' sporting director Klaus Allofs told the Wolfsburger Nachrichten newspaper that Kevin De Bruyne would have a medical examination sometime this week and join up with his new team-mates on a Chinese training camp.
We're not quite at the stage of confirming the transfer, but the differences with Chelsea are not insurmountable.
Sky News are reporting that De Bruyne is being signed as a replacement for Wolfsburg's Brazilian midfielder Diego, who is thought to be leaving the club this summer.
