Chelsea Transfer News: Kevin-Prince Boateng In Talks Over Stamford Bridge Move

CalcioMercato. The source claims the former Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth star could be one of many to leave the San Siro this summer with Chelsea interested in the £17 million-rated Ghanaian international. The 26-year old has spent the last three seasons in the Italian capital since leaving Fratton Park in 2010 and has enjoyed moderate success, helping Massimiliano Allegri€™s side to a Serie A title in his first season. He has however suffered from racial abuse during his stay in Italy, at one point walking off the pitch in protest during a friendly match. Boateng made 29 appearances in Serie A last season ans scored twice, and has also managed 15 goals in 98 appearances since his move to the Italian side. Though a return to the Premier League and a move to Chelsea would certainly interest the Ghanaian, it remains to be seen in what capacity he would be used by returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho next season. The Portuguese already has a wealth of attacking options at Stamford Bridge with Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard and Oscar already occupying frequent midfield roles and thus the German-born star, who holds dual-nationality, may have to settle for a role on the substitute's bench should a deal go through. Boateng played for the German Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 national teams but opted to play for Ghana at senior level, making his debut in the 2010 World Cup. He retired from the international scene a year later but has since reversed that decision.
