Chelsea Transfers: 10 Players Screwed By Blues' Ludicrous Transfer Policies

10. Oriol Romeu

The Blues made former Barcelona star Oriol Romeu their player after tying up a £4.3 million deal for the Spanish midfielder back in 2011, with high hopes that he would be able to come into the Chelsea squad and make an impression in the absence of Michael Essien, who at the time was ruled out for six months with a cruciate ligament injury. Romeu has made just 33 appearances in his three years with the club so far, failing to make an impression in his time with Chelsea before Jose Mourinho made the decision to loan him out to Valencia last season. Having done well with Los Ches, one would have thought that Romeu could have come back to make a renewed impression, but it looks unlikely even in spite of his good form in La Liga last season. Now 22, the player still remains on Chelsea's books, but given Mourinho has this summer signed Cesc Fabregas to bolster his midfield, Romeu will probably see his chances to shine few and far between. The likelihood is that Chelsea may end up letting the Spaniard exit the club again this summer either on loan, or permanently if they are able to make a profit on the player, though he has just signed a new deal at the club.
