4. Luka Modric
Another ally of Jose Mourinho's during his spell at the Bernabeu was former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, who along with Lopez and Michael Essien was one of only
three players the Portuguese coach
was on speaking terms with by the time his unpopular reign in the Spanish capital ended. Mourinho signed Modric from Spurs for £33 million only last summer and despite the Croatian being a big hit in North London, he proved to be a massive flop following the move and along with Alex Song was voted as one of the
worst signings of the season in La Liga. Now, his flagging career could be thrown a lifeline with Mourinho prepared to bring him back to the Premier League. Chelsea have made repeated efforts to sign the midfielder in the past. They had two bids for the star knocked back by Spurs in 2011 before Daniel Levy finally caved in and sold one of the club's most prized assets just over a year ago, but refused to do business with their domestic rivals. The Blues will be hoping Real don't prove quite as stubborn as Levy when it comes to selling the creative playmaker, but it is likely Madrid
will demand £30 million.
