Chelsea Transfers: 5 Midfield Replacements For Juan Mata

1. Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund's attacking midfielder Marco Reus is another option for Chelsea should Juan Mata be deemed surplus to requirements at the Bridge. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach ace only moved to the Westfalenstadion last summer but could be on the move again this with Chelsea showing a keen interest. They've already signed Germany attacker Andre Schurrle and could be about to link him up with one of his compatriots as Mourinho seeks more options in the attacking third. Along with Mata, there are also doubts over the future of Fernando Torres, and that could lead to a bid for Reus, who is valued at £35 million by last season's beaten Champions League finalists. Dortmund would clearly be reluctant to sell given that they have already lost influential midfielder Mario Gotze to domestic rivals Bayern Munich and are on the verge of losing Robert Lewandowski, too, and that's why the player would command such a huge transfer fee. Reus scored 14 times in 32 league outings in his debut season at Dortmund and was ranked as the fourth best footballer in the world behind only Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Frank Ribery by the multinational mass media firm Bloomberg earlier this month.
