3. João Moutinho
Chelsea have been chasing the Porto star
since the summer of 2011 but any move failed to come to fruition and instead the club refocused their energies on their failed bid to sign Luka Modric from Tottenham. However, now that a move for the latter seems increasingly more unlikely given the Croatian flopped at Real Madrid under Mourinho, a move for the former could be back on the cards. Mourinho will be familiar with the former Sporting Lisbon player having seen him in close quarters during his stint managing Porto, and Chelsea definitely need the creative spark he would provide to their midfield. There are some who say he is
the natural heir to the departing Frank Lampard. There aren't too many more box-to-box midfielders better than Moutinho at present and his all-action performances both in operating in a defensive midfield role and behind the striker in a No.10 position means he would be able to bring many of the attributes to Stamford Bridge that the latter will be departing with.
