Chelsea Transfers: 5 Replacements For Frank Lampard

2. Joao Moutinho

Another "Mourinho signing" could be that of Joao Moutinho. The Portuguese manager is known to surround himself with players from his home country, as was evident by the procurement's of Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira and Tiago during his first stint in charge of the club. The signing of Moutinho then would make good sense, considering he possesses many similar traits to the soon-to-be departing Lampard. The Portuguese national is a leader both on and off the pitch, was made vice-captain of Sporting Lisbon at the age of 19 and later became the club's skipper. Capable of playing in a box-to-box role, and equally so just behind the main striker, Moutinho, much like Schweinsteiger, would seem to be a natural heir apparent to Lampard. He was a long-term target of Andre Villas-Boas both during his ill-fated Chelsea tenure and throughout his current role as Tottenham boss, but thus far, he has failed to land his man. Can Mourinho succeed where his predecessor failed and bring Moutinho to the Bridge?
