5. Christian Benteke
Having seen his club miss out on deals to sign Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski, Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has urged the Blues to
make a move for Christian Benteke. The Belgian international has been urged by his compatriot to sign up at Stamford Bridge this summer after the striker handed in a transfer request at Villa Park. Benteke enjoyed a marvellous debut season in the Premier League in 2012/13, finishing as the division's fourth-highest goalscorer behind only Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez and Golden Boot winner Robin van Persie. And Hazard remarked:
"He had an unbelievable first season for a young striker in the Premier League. His dream is to play even higher. I think hes got all the attributes to do well at a big club."
Chelsea are understood to hold an interest in both Rooney and Benteke, but are only likely to sign one striker this summer. With the former seeming unlikely at best, the Blues could make a bid for the latter, but would first have to do battle with Tottenham, who appear favourites for the 22-year-old's signature at this stage.
