Chelsea Transfers: 5 Strikers Blues Could Sign With £37 Million Juan Mata Fee
4. Christian Benteke
Alternatively, Chelsea could revive their interest in Christian Benteke. The Blues were linked with a move for Benteke last summer back when the Belgian international faced an uncertain future under Paul Lambert after slapping in a transfer request. A number of potential suitors lined up but the 23-year-old performed an amazing U-turn and ended up signing a new contract at Villa Park. Benteke scored 19 Premier League goals last season and took the topflight by storm in his debut campaign in England, but has hit a bit of a blip of late with wavering form and frustrating injuries. However, he looks to have gotten over both as he has scored in each of his last two league games. Villa were demanding £25 million last July when it looked like Benteke might quit but now he has signed a new contract, his market value is expected to be much higher. Still, Chelsea now have the funds to make a move happen.
