Chelsea Transfers: Rating Mourinho's 10 Biggest Deals Of The Summer

10. Cesc Fabregas - BOUGHT

The first Chelsea arrival to be officially unveiled this summer was both one of the more controversial and could prove one of the most significant. Not only is Fabregas a former Arsenal man, but he's made a few comments in the press about Jose Mourinho and Diego Costa, not to mention a longstanding spat with Chelsea hero Frank Lampard, which saw his arrival greeted with a mixed reaction from some sections of Chelsea fandom. Fortunately for him, such misdemeanours are easily forgiven once good things start happening on the pitch and Fabregas quickly showed why he could be a solution to Chelsea's chronic lack of creativity last summer. He assisted Diego Costa's first pre-season goal and bagged an outstanding free-kick for himself, directing the team from deep as gracefully as he did during his peak years at the Gunners. In fact, he and Costa have got on like a house on fire, forming the kind of partnership which will make even the most resilient of opponents quake in their boots. Judging by the reception he received when officially presented at the Real Sociedad friendly a week ago, Chelsea fans have embraced him to their hearts already and he rewarded them with two assists, including one sexy little pass to Andre Schurrle to give Chelsea the lead, in their Premier League opener at Burnley yesterday. Considering the hyper-inflated present market, snapping up a world-class talent like Fabregas for £27 million is an absolute bargain. Rating: 9/10
