5. Aaron Cresswell
Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy called this player "the best left back in the Championship", and Cresswell has gone about proving it as he leads the second tier assists table this term. With prevailing wisdom certain that Palace are a sinking ship, Pulis will like as not have to look at talents playing in lower divisions. Cresswell fits that bill nicely at the age of 23. There is no real competition for the left back berth at Selhurst Park. Dean Moxey is in the side because Norwegian Jonathan Parr suffered
ankle ligament damage in April and has not played again since. For all Moxey's endeavour he is woefully short of quality at the top level. It is a similar story on the other flank of defence with Joel Ward deputizing as summer signing
Jack Hunt broke his ankle in training in September. Pulis would face stiff competition from West Midlands clubs
Aston Villa and
West Bromwich Albion to land Cresswell, however, as they have both tried to sign him before. Click next below for more of our winter window suggestions for Palace purchases.
