Crystal Palace New Manager: 5 Candidates To Replace Ian Holloway

5. Roberto Di Matteo

When speaking about who the next permanent Crystal Palace manager could be, chairman Steve Parish suggested Holloway's successor would have more Premier League experience.
"I think we both realised we need someone with more experience at this level."
Taking that into account, former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo would seem to be in the frame. Di Matteo hasn't worked in football management since being sacked by the Blues last year and is free to hold talks with interested parties. The Italian guided Chelsea to FA Cup glory in 2012 and followed that up by landing the club's first ever Champions League win, but his reign amazingly still lasted less than a year. Having managed one of the topflight's best clubs, Di Matteo also had a stint at West Brom, getting them promoted out of the Championship in his first season in charge. He also oversaw the Baggie's best start in a Premier League season on record, and was named Premier League Manager of the Month for September 2010. Di Matteo has the experience at the highest levels of English football, but will Parish take a chance on the "rookie" 43-year-old boss?
