Crystal Palace Transfers: 5 Signings Ian Holloway Must Make To Avoid Relegation

2. Florent Malouda

Florent Malouda Though it is questionable whether Flortent Malouda would sign for Palace, it is undoubtable that he would be a key transfer for Holloway's side. Florent is probably the least likely of the five transfers mentioned in this article, but staying in London and the Premier League as well as the chance of playing frequent first-team football again may lure Malouda to join Palace rather than go abroad. Malouda's decline is a strange one. He was once a key player for Chelsea's Premier League and European campaigns, but spent last season being made to train with the side's academy. His last appearance for the club was in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, which Chelsea infamously won on penalties. Chelsea attempted to force Florent out of the club last summer and after the Frenchman decided not to leave, he was banished from the first team squad. The frustrating experience Malouda endured in the last campaign would make a season full of first team appearances for Holloway's side look like paradise. Looking for a new side and a fresh start, the 80-time France international may have to lower his wage demands to be signed by a club not based in Qatar or Russia. If the Frenchman can agree wages that suit both parties, he would likely play a crucial part to their survival chances and, like Ince, would provide suitable cover for the outward Zaha.
