How A Current World Football XI Looks

Right-Back - PHILIPP LAHM

When it comes to being the perfect team player, there is nobody on the planet who is better than Philipp Lahm. The German legend is the most efficient, quietly effective footballer in the game, and he continues to shine as the finest full-back in world football by quite some distance. This is despite the fact he has often played, and thrived, in midfield recently too. The 31-year-old has had a wonderful 2014, much like Neuer, and he had the incredible honour of captaining Germany to World Cup glory. He never put a foot wrong at any point in Brazil, and he was a fitting man to lift the Jules Rimet Trophy back in July. He was equally brilliant for Bayern, as he won his sixth Bundesliga title. Lahm might not have the flair of someone like Dani Alves, but his defensive expertise, intelligence on the ball and team ethic are simply perfect. Pep Guardiola has said he is the most intelligent player he€™s ever worked with, which when you consider who he was coaching at Barcelona, is quite a compliment. The 113-time capped former Germany star is a sensational player, and he is finally receiving the enormous praise he has always deserved. Honourable mentions: Pablo Zabaleta and Branislav Ivanovic
