England 1-0 Denmark: Three Lions Player Ratings

Joe Hart: England's goalkeeper had little to do over the course of the game and was rarely called upon. His best moment of the match came when he denied substitute Morten Rasmussen from giving the Danes an unlikely lead on the hour mark. Having regained his place as City's No1, it seems clear that Hart is now Hodgson's first choice too. 6/10Glen Johnson: The Liverpool full back produced a strong showing on his 50th appearance for England. He seems certain to go to the World Cup alongside Tottenham's Kyle Walker and, judging by this performance, Hodgson would be wise in selecting Johnson as his first choice. The right back barely put a foot wrong over the 90 minutes and offered a threat on the overlap. 7/10Gary Cahill: Cahill is quickly establishing himself as England's best central defender and put in a another good performance against Denmark. The Chelsea man was without his usual partner, Phil Jagielka, but still looked calm and composed throughout the encounter. A solid display. 7/10Chris Smalling: A player who is currently out of form for Manchester United and it showed at points on Wednesday. Although competent in possession, Smalling has a tendency to switch off, a trait he demonstrated against the Danes. Overshadowed by Cahill, but he will still go to Brazil due to his youth and potential. 5/10Ashley Cole: Despite having made only 13 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season, Cole gave another accomplished performance for England. The left back only played the first half, but he showed just why he deserves to go to Brazil. Ever reliable and vastly experienced, you can understand why Hodgson still has faith in the 33-year-old. 7/10Steven Gerrard: Another player who produced a solid display on a night when England very rarely got out of third gear. The Three Lions' captain is continuing to impress in his new deeper role for club and country, where he is able to influence proceedings and dictate the game's tempo. All Hodgson has to do now is decide who should play alongside him. 7/10
