England 1-0 Denmark: Three Lions Player Ratings

Jack Wilshere: It was a difficult night for the Arsenal midfielder, who would undoubtedly have been unsettled by Daniel Agger's ankle-crunching tackle after just 10 minutes. Wilshere struggled to really influence the game and showcase his talents, but you cannot question his heart and work rate. A certainty to go to Brazil, but not necessarily a starter. 6/10Jordan Henderson: Like Wilshere, Henderson gave a solid account of himself, even if he did not really influence proceedings. The Liverpool player has been in great form for the Merseysiders this season, revelling under the new system deployed by Brendan Rodgers. Full of running and athleticism, Henderson may make the plane to Brazil simply because he is one of the few who could stand the scorching heat at the World Cup. 6/10Raheem Sterling: England's best player and now a firm favourite to make the 23-man squad for Brazil. Sterling was a constant threat and nuisance for the Danish defence. Blessed with blistering pace and lightning quick feet, it is easy to see why Hodgson selected him in his starting 11. Even if he is not used as a starter at the World Cup, the Liverpool winger would make a valuable option off the bench. 8/10Wayne Rooney: A quiet night for the Manchester United striker, who was restricted to long ranged shots and speculative efforts. Hodgson's main issue is ensuring he gets the best out of Rooney. He started the match as the central striker, with Sturridge pushed out left, but he would perhaps prefer to play just off the Liverpool front man. 6/10Daniel Sturridge: Sturridge is on fire at the moment and is the poacher England have been crying out for in recent years. He took his goal well and looked lively throughout proceedings, seemingly much more comfortable when deployed through the middle and not out wide - something Hodgson will have to consider before England's World Cup opener against Italy. 7/10
