England: 5 Stars Who Should Break Through For World Cup 2014

3. Adam Lallana

Lallana, 24 has really stepped up to the plate with Southampton this season and many people feel he is close to his first England cap. He has shown experience beyond his years and was rewarded with the captaincy at the newly promoted Saints earlier in the season. He has shown fantastic drive, leadership, skill and vision and has coped with the transition from Championship to Premiership with consumate ease. Lallana can take hope from the inclusion of the likes of Cleverley, Osman in recent squads, and they may prove to be just a couple of players that he would look to oust from the squad next season. Lallana was included in the England squad for the first time for the qualifier against Ukraine back in September 2012 following an impressive start to the season but injury hampered his progress midway through the season. Another player with plenty of Championship experience, but if Saints were to be relegated, don't expect Lallana to go down with them as he has proved he is too good for that level already. http://youtu.be/qQqomGrNw5o
