Jordan Henderson - While lacking in many options at the back, Hodgson has a wide variety of midfield options. Henderson is a player who has done well at club level this year and has the chance to link with clubmates like Gerrard in the England set-up. However, against Denmark he struggled, not for the first time, to impose himself on the game. It may be that Henderson is simply one of those good club players who isn't quite cut out for international football. A good end to the season with Liverpool, though, and he might make it into the squad anyway. Jack Wilshere - Another central midfielder who struggled to make a difference on Wednesday, Wilshere's place would nevertheless be secure were it not for his other issue: his incredible injury proneness. The Arsenal man has consistently shown this season that he is living up to his huge potential, only to get a seemingly minor knock that lands him out for six weeks. A fit Wilshere could bean asset to the England side, but there is no guarantee that he will be so in the summer. Danny Welbeck - Replacing Rooney with half an hour to go against Denmark, Welbeck had a couple of decent chances but mostly made little impact on the game. His scoring record for England is good, but he can't shake the sense that he only really performs against second rate opposition. With Man United's struggles this year and Liverpool's revival, Welbeck has been eclipsed by the likes of Sturridge and Sterling. He may be an established enough member of the England set up to be involved in the World Cup, but only at the expense of another forward. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - A fine goal against the World Cup hosts at the Maracana last year put the Ox close to the front of the queue for a World Cup place, but, like Arsenal teammate Wilshere, injury has called that place into doubt. Having hardly played this season thanks to a long injury lay-off Oxlade-Chamberlain was given just 13 minutes against Denmark and did little with it. Still, he is playing and playing well again for Arsenal. Could he be coming into form at just the right moment or just too late? Fraser Forster, John Ruddy, Ben Foster - Hodgson included four keepers in the squad for the Denmark game but kept faith with Joe Hart between the sticks for the whole 90 minutes. This means the contest to be Hart's number two remains completely open between three inexperienced internationals. Let's just hope Hart doesn't suffer an injury or another crisis of confidence.
