1. Sir Ian Botham
Sir Ian Botham, aka 'Beefy', played 102 test matches for England, averaging 33.54 with the bat and 28.40 with the ball. He was a dominant and domineering all-rounder and in my opinion England's greatest ever cricketer. He had many career highlights, with his greatest coming during the 1981 Ashes series. The match at Headingley was seen as 'Botham's Test' as he performed brilliantly with both the bat and ball. Regularly plastered across newspaper headlines, Botham was a great character in British sport and never afraid to push the boundaries, making him loved by many. He was voted Sports Personality of the Year in 1981 and knighted in 2007 due to his great influence on British cricket and involvement in charity work. He continues to be a fabulous advert for the game as a commentator for Sky Sports and will surely go down in history as England's greatest ever player!
