England's Best Ever Ashes Players

7. Sir Leonard Hutton

Len Hutton was England's first professional cricket captain, and what a great captain he was! Leading by example, during his 57 tests, Hutton averaged 56.67 with the bat, scoring 19 centuries. That highly impressive batting average was often accumulated against very strong bowling sides, including Australia and India. His Ashes highlight came in 1938 when he scored an incredible 364 and put England in a winning position. In my opinion, Hutton is one of the most naturally gifted players that the English game has produced and would easily fit into any modern day England batting line-up.
