England's Euro 2021 Starting XI

The most expensive English player of all time is a dead certainty for the starting 11. The Manchester United captain proved himself as an England player at the last World Cup.

The centre back position is not the strongest for England at the minute, with only a few standout names. However, Maguire is easily the best of the bunch. His aerial threat alone is strong enough to warrant his inclusion in the squad.

Gone are the days of John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, and Sol Campbell. England may be short on quality defenders, but they would be a lot worse off without the former Hull and Leicester man.

He might not be able to live up to the title of most expensive defender ever, but his ability cannot be ignored. His leadership skills and his wide array of passing give him the edge over any other English centre back.
