Everton’s 2004/05 Champions League Qualifying Squad – Where Are They Now?

20. Joseph Yobo

Hard-tackling Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo was Moyes€™s first Everton signing and one of their most consistent performers throughout 2004-05, a quality he retained for most of his Goodison career. His performances that season would eventually lead to the centre-back breaking the appearances record for an overseas Evertonian, as well as becoming the first African to captain the Blues. Yobo has been seeking a way back into professional football since being released by Turkish club Fenerbahce in 2014. The defender is still without a club, but is set to be honoured with a testimonial match in Nigeria in the near future, with stars including Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto€™o on the bill.
