Fantasy Premier League Tips: 11 Best Cheap Players For 2014-15

8. Michael Dawson - Defender

One last basement-bargain defensive option for the upcoming season is Michael Dawson of Tottenham Hotspur. As Spurs's current longest-serving player at the grand old age of 30, it won't come as a surprise to learn you can snap the Englishman up for as little as £5 million - and he's a reliable pick. Though Dawson is approaching the winter of his career, the centre-back is still in regular contention for a starting berth, and made 33 Premier League appearances last season, paring Jan Vertonghen at the heart of former manager Tim Sherwood's defence. Cheap and an almost cert to start every week, Dawson represents a shrewd bet. It remains to be seen however if he factors into new boss Mauricio Pochettino's plans, as new managers often have different ideas to their predecessors. Dawson also struggled with injury last term, but if he does start, and if he can stay out of the treatment room, he's one of the best players in his current price bracket. Value: £5 milliion
