Fantasy Premier League Tips: 3 Liverpool Players You Should Sign
3. Simon Mignolet - £5.5 Million
The reign of Pepe Reina as first-team keeper at Anfield came to an inauspicious end after eight seasons, when a series of fumbled saves and truly amatuer mistakes saw him shipped off to Napoli on a loan last season before a more permanent move to Bayern Munich across the summer. Many of the Kop faithful were worried about the considerable gap Reina's departure left in the team, but apparently there was no need to be anxious - the trade of Fabio Borini for Sunderland's goalie Simon Mignolet worked out pretty well for everyone involved. The Black Cats got the Italian forward at his best, following ongoing injuries at Anfield, and Liverpool got one of their best goalkeepers in years. Anyway, we don't need to hear all about the details of his move or how awesome it was when he saved that Jonathan Walters penalty during his debut against Stoke, or the fact that he played in every single match during the 2013/14 season. No, we need to hear about why he should be on your fantasy team! And there is some staggering evidence to that end: during his first season at Liverpool Mignolet clocked up an impressive 132 points in all, thanks to 108 saves against his 50 conceded. That's about in keeping with the points he earned during his time at Sunderland, so we reckon he'll keep it up this year, too. Oh and you get all that for just £5.5 million - bargain!
