FifPro XI: 11 Players Who Statistically Should Have Been In

10. Javi Lopez - Espanyol

Position: Full-Back Age: 28 Market Value: £2.6 million Previous Clubs: Real Betis B, Espanyol B Javi Lopez has been a rock on the right of the Espanyol defence so far this season. With an average of 4.7 tackles and 3.1 interceptions per game, the 27 year old Spanish player is more than deserving of a place at the right hand side of the statistics back-line. At 5ft 11, Lopez is perfect height for bombing up and down the right-wing. He was signed by Espanyol in 2007 from the Betis B team and subsequently spent 3 years playing for the Espanyol B team. After relegation from the Spanish Segunda into the Tercera Division in 2008, he helped his team to promotion the following season and finishing top of the league. Since promotion to the Espanyol first team in the 2010-11 season by, now Southampton manager, Mauricio Pochettino he hasn't looked back. In his 4 year Espanyol career, Lopez has been involved in 87 official games for the Catalan club, and even scored twice in that time - and also bagged one against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2013 pre-season friendly at White Hart Lane. Lopez is contracted to Espanyol until the summer of 2015, and if any clubs were looking to buy him, it would cost them a not too heavy £2.6 million according to Transfer Markt.
