Fulham 0-3 Southampton: 5 Things We Learned

1. Fulham Have To Plug Their Leaky Defence

As already stated, the Cottager's lack of goals is a real worry. However, what is most worrying of all is the club's leaky defence. Fulham are haemorrhaging goals at the moment and have not kept a clean sheet for nine matches. Saturday's performance was no different as they took their tally of goals conceded in the Premier League to 53. When you are letting in more goals than anyone else in the league you can hardly be surprised when you find yourselves at the foot of the table. Add to that a lack of goals scored and the outcome looks worrying. The issues for Fulham's defence seem to be revolving around Brede Hangeland, who just does not look match fit at the moment. It is a great shame for the Cottagers as Norwegian is a brilliant centre back and loyal servant of the club. The 32-year-old has already faced a spell on the sidelines this season and perhaps he is just struggling to rediscover the sharpness required for the Premier League. If Fulham can get Hangeland on song again then the leaky defence can surely be plugged. Alongside Hangeland on Saturday was Dan Burn, who looks a brilliant prospect for the future. His performance was assured and full of heart, and the youngster should provide fans with hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
