During his 18 month stay in Glasgow, Nikica Jelavic was the kind of player that many Glasgow Rangers supporters theorised would be subject to a big bid from teams in England. Talented and clearly better than pretty much everyone else, at least technically, at the club, the striker netted 30 goals in 45 games.

Signed from Rapid Vienna in the Summer of 2010 to the tune of £4 million, Jelavic later joined Everton during the January transfer window in early-2012, much to the chagrin of many Gers fans, who had hoped he'd wait until the Summer months to depart. Even so, there wasn't much ill will, because of his popularity.

Getting off to a decent start at Goodison Park, Jelavic would then find himself falling out of favour, and the goals started drying up. There had been short-lived rumours that Manchester United would sign him, but those were ever backed up by any bids. The striker joined Hull City in January, 2014, and he has been there since. Rangers banked £300,000 due to a sell on clause, which was a nice bonus, but the player will now have to adapt to life in the English Championship after Hull were relegated.
