Speaking of talented Americans, Maurice Edu was signed in 2008 for around £2.6 million from Toronto FC in MLS, and after a ropey beginning to his Rangers career, he established himself as a solid addition to the middle of the park. Never the best at tackling, Edu's strengths were his distribution and shooting, and there was always talk during his Gers career that clubs in England would come calling.

Eventually, one did, and Stoke City signed the midfielder in the Summer of 2012. Much like many of his peers, Maurice Edu was unsure over what to do regarding his Rangers career, but there was little chance he was going to turn down a move to the English Premier League, something he explained was a "dream come true".

Despite the way he left, abruptly and without much fanfare, Edu will always be remembered for scoring a last-minute, injury-time goal against Celtic at Ibrox in February, 2010, one that virtually helped secure the league title for the blue half of Glasgow.
